Cash Cuddler would prefer to take the high road and recommend that you use all-natural ingredients in your food. But as an unabashed artificial sweetener junkie, this would be hypocritical, so I will tell you how to save money on the fake stuff.
One favorite, economical method was to use the bulk package of Sweet ‘N Low, the kind that was marketed for baking, but just as useful in a closed container and measured out with a spoon for daily use. Cash Cuddler recently got an unpleasant surprise at the supermarket when shopping for a new box of this money saving product: It was missing from the shelf. After harassing the store manager over this, and was told it was no longer being manufactured.
Most people purchase the large box holding the little pink envelopes for their daily coffee and tea, but this is a waste of money. I bought the pink envelope stuff – there was no alternative and as mentioned earlier, Cash Cuddler is a junkie. Unfortunately, there appeared to be very little actual sweetener the large box. Also, those little pink paper envelopes make a mess in the kitchen.
It’s a waste of money paying for envelopes when you want sweetener. This is unacceptable to me.
When possible, purchase the bulk product of artificial sweeteners, and eschew the kind that charges you for the paper wrappers. The wrapped kind is only useful when you want to travel with it. Why do you need little pink envelopes all over your house? Little pink envelopes probably appeal to elves, but do not sweeten your coffee.
As for the Sweet ‘N Low crisis, I wrote to the company and complained. This post will be updated when there is a response.
Update: I got an email from a distributor of the product, and it seems the bulk pack is still be made and the store manager was in error.
Even better, I was offered an opportunity to buy the stuff in amazing quantities at an amazing price: Price 5 lb bulk: $26.00 and 2-1/2 lb. bag per box: $12.50. If you want details on how to order this, post something here.
