There are free offers that run every summer to get kids to read.

Kids can get a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza, BOOK IT! card and backpack clip from the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! program.
At Old Spaghetti Factory, children read five books, record them in an Old Spaghetti Factory journal and turn in the journal to get a free kid’s meal. Journals can be picked up at any restaurant.
Half Price is offering kids $3 shopping cards for each week kids read at least 15 minutes per day.

Maine residents can get $500 for their babies’ education free by opening a Maine 529 account.
This offer began last year, and it’s continuing into 2011.
The Harold Alfond College Challenge is sponsoring this endowment, and Merrill Lynch is the program manager and underwriter. This is basically $500 in free money.

This is a kit sponsored by the Dairy Council to help children grades 4-10 learn about fitness, and the program begins again on March 1st, 2010.
The kit includes display materials and wellness-based activities that inspire kids to go outside and play for 60 minutes a day, and nutritional advice.
