The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Trees for a Green LA Program, in partnership with Million Trees LA, is giving out free shade trees to Los Angeles City residents.
Existing trees, including the famous Los Angeles date palm (pictured) have been dying from unknown blight and air pollution. This program is meant to re-tree Los Angeles county with sturdier varieties.
The program ends 12-31-2010.
Those requesting free trees must be an electric customer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to receive them. You must attend an online 20 minute workshop to learn how to care for the trees.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, call 1-800-GreenLA (800-473-3652) and select Trees for a Green LA or email Tree.Program@ladwp.com.
